Special Blessing's Child Care
*National Association Family Child Care Accredited
*Nature Explore "Outdoor Adventures Classroom" certification

Hi my name is Corinne Carr, I own and operate Special Blessing's Child Care, a state licensed, nationally accredited child care facility located in Emporia, Kansas. I am married to Monte Carr and am a mother of two grown children. I started my Licensed Child Care Business in 1992. The most important thing to me about my Family Child Care business is to provide "Quality" care. This means that I love and nurture the children in my home environment so they feel like a part of our family. Quality child care means "Teamwork" between provider and families. Special Blessing's Child Care provides a safe and healthy environment, gives children the opportunity for learning experiences and offers activities using large and small motor skills. I provide positive ways to support each child’s social and emotional growth and development. I provide opportunities for each child to enhance their skills. These opportunities are developmentally appropriate and meet each child's individual and unique needs. I am committed to maintaining professionalism and managing an effective program. I strive to always be "Flexible" to meet the daily needs of the children and families at Special Blessing's Child Care. I feel my program is like a "Big Family". Each child has a special place in my heart.

I use the Creative Curriculum which builds upon the child's interests. The Creative Curriculum is a comprehensive early childhood educational system that emphasizes a practical, easy to understand approach to working with children. It promotes the use of interest areas as a way of providing experiences that promote social emotional, physical, oral language and cognitive development.

I participate in continuing education classes in the Early Childhood field. I was honored to receive "Provider of the Year in 2000" from "F.C.C.O, a Family Child Care Organization" in Lyon County. I received my CDA, Child Development Associate Credential in July of 2007 from the Council for Professional Recognition. I have achieved Accredited Family Child Care Business certificate through the National Association Family Child Care in 2009 by meeting high quality standards and my Special Blessing's Child Care certificate stands current. I graduated in May 2011 from Butler County Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education.  In 2010-2011, I was chosen to attend  BELIEF " Building Excellent Leaders Influencing Early Foundations" an Early Childhood Leadership Institute. I have served on the board of Child Care Providers Coalition of Kansas since 2008. My current position is Professional Development chair, mailbox and newsletter editor. In August 2012 our "Outdoor Adventures" Classroom became certified through Nature Explore. Nature Explore is a collaborative project of the Arbor Day Foundation and Dimensions Educational Research Foundation. We have become a part of a growing national network of organizations that have created an effective outdoor learning environment for children.

  • My role as an early childhood professional is to help children be successful. I believe in “expanding their horizon” as an approach to learning, and that children learn through play.

  • I agree with the quote by Dr. Hiam Ginnot:
“Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression” (Ginnott)

    Sincerely,

    Corinne Carr
